Start Planning for Easter Treats

Easter Bunny Treats

INGREDIENTS

2/3 cup vanilla frosting

30 large marshmallows

Pink gel or paste food coloring

Red and pink heart-shaped decorating sprinkles

60 miniature marshmallows

Frost the tops of 12 large marshmallows; stack a large marshmallow on top of each. Quarter the remaining large marshmallows; set aside for ears. Tint 1/4 cup frosting pink. Cut a small hole in the corner of a pastry or plastic bag; place pink frosting in bag. Pipe a ribbon between the stacked marshmallows for bow tie. With white frosting, attach red hearts for eyes and a pink heart for nose. Pipe pink whiskers and smile.
For ears, pipe the center of quartered marshmallows pink; attach to head with white frosting. With the remaining white frosting, attach the miniature marshmallows for legs and tail. Let stand until dry. Yield: 1 dozen.

I remember how you used to make stuff like this for all the kids on the bus route... you were always so creative! I wish I could get marshmallows here so I could make these for my students.

Freedom

Freedom can be taken for granted if we arent careful. We are fortunate to live in a free country! What a privilege to vote, to have a voice, to worship freely and to raise our familes in such a place.
In many ways we are spoiled. Our dogs sleep in better beds and eat better food than many children in our world.
We have so much and whine about what we want to have ...much like a child with their hands full of cookies and asking for more.
Lets be thankful for what we have. One way is to give thanks to GOD. He bless us daily!

Crockpot Chocolate Candy

2 lbs almond bark chocolate or white candy coating

2 cups (12oz) milk-choc chocolate chips

4 oz Germans Sweet Chocolate

24 oz dry roasted or salted peanuts

In crockpot, combine the white candy broken into small pieces, choc chips, and Germans Sweet Chocolate. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour; stir and reduce to low. Cover and cook till candy is melted thoroughly, stirring every 10 minutes, Add peanuts and mix well.

Drop peanut clusters by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let stand until set. Makes about 3-4 dozen. Can be stored in refrigerator or room temperature.

FUDGY WUDGY CHOCOLATE COOKIES

Ingredients : 12 oz. semisweet chocolate chips (2 c.) 2 T. butter 3/4 c. flour 2 ts. vanilla extract 1 (14-oz.) can sweetened condensed milk 2 c. chopped pecans

Preparation :

1. Preheat oven to 350~. In a 2-quart glass bowl, cook chocolate with butter in a microwave oven on High 1 to 2 minutes or until melted and smooth when stirred. Mix in flour until well blended. Add vanilla and sweetened condensed milk and mix well. Stir in pecans. 2. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto 2 greased and foil-lined cookie sheets. Bake 9 to 10 minutes (cookies will be dull on top and soft). Let cookies cool on baking sheets. Carefully remove from foil. Makes 45 cookies.

Make Valentines Special

Special days can come and go unless you do something to make them stand out. Why not surprise your husband.... Leave a Valentine under his pillow. Write a note on the bathroom mirrow with a lip pencil, draw a heart and write "I LOVE YOU!" Put a Valentine under the windshield wiper for him to find when he leaves for work. Put chocolate hearts in his shoes. Mail a Valentine to his work. Make a special breakfast. Heart shaped pancakes. Heart shaped toast with his eggs! These can be adapted to children as well. Make a memory for your family and for yourself!
